On behalf of the ILACHE Board of Directors and the 2020 Conference Planning Committee, We're looking forward to a fantastic conference at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Friday, April 24, 2020 in Champaign, IL on Friday, April 24, 2020! The ILACHE Annual Conference provides opportunities for higher education institutions, organizations and/or business entities interested in networking with Latino higher education professionals and prospective and current students and their families.
Our attendees are students, families, faculty and staff throughout the State of Illinois who are change agents and leaders at their campuses and community.
As a sponsor we will showcase your institution, organization, and/or business in our conference marketing materials before and during the conference via our website, social media, direct electronic mail and conference mobile app.
This year’s conference theme is Together We Rise: Promoting leadership, affirming identity and demanding equity. As educators and advocates, ILACHE is strongly committed to providing strategies to assist students, faculty and staff during this difficult time in state and national politics. Our work is vital in these times of increasing budget challenges, shrinking enrollments, changing demographics, as well as legislative attacks on those who are often marginalized in society.
This year’s keynote speaker is Keynote Speaker Dr. Louie F. Rodríguez, the Interim Dean and a Professor in the Graduate School of Education at the University of California Riverside (UCR). In 2018, he was named the Bank of America Chair in Educational Leadership, Policy, and Practice in the UCR Graduate School of Education. He is also the Founding Director of the Center for Educational Transformation at UCR. Dr. Rodriguez is the author of four books, articles for The Atlantic, U.S. News and World Report, Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine among others, and has received numerous honors including the American Education Research Association (AERA) Hispanic Research Issues SIG Award for Research in Elementary, Secondary, and Post-secondary Education, Harvard Latino Alumni Alliance, Outstanding Latino Faculty by the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE), and Phi Delta Kappa International Emerging Leader. He currently sits on the President’s Chicano/Latino Advisory Council for the University of California. His research focuses on engaging and understanding the voices and experiences of the people, particularly among Latina/o and other youth of color.
We hope you will join us this year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Friday, April 24, 2020 in Champaign, IL
to connect with colleagues and return to campus with the tools necessary to continue to redefine the future of Latino higher education.
