Two $1000 scholarships will be awarded to a Latino (a) student enrolled or planning to enroll in the fall in a regionally accredited Illinois college or university. Selection will be based on academic record, recommendations, a personal statement, and demonstrated commitment to community/campus/high school service. The application and all supporting documents must be submitted to ILACHE by Friday, March 8, 2019 by 11:59pm Central Time.

Dr. Arias Scholarship Award for Writing!
2019
Academic Year
One $500 scholarships will be awarded annually to those with a focus and passion for writing. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of a 4.0 (scale of 5) to apply. Winners will be selected based on writing potential. A 500-word essay on one’s writing interest and/or the importance of writing in their future plans and professional career of the applicant. In addition, applicants are required to submit a writing sample such as a short story, essay, or academic paper, not to exceed 2,500 words.
In addition to the monetary award, recipients will have access to Dr. Arias who will work with scholarship winners to develop their professional writing goals and enhance their writing. Winners may be asked to attend writing workshops and conferences (any associated expenses will be covered).

Deadline & Announcement of Scholarship Winners
Complete online application with all required supporting documents must be submitted no later than 11:59pm (Central Standard Time) on Friday, March 8, 2019. The timestamp of the online application and emails will be used to determine submission time. Incomplete and late applications will not be considered. Scholarship winners will be announced on the ILACHE website in January. An official recognition of the winners will take place at the annual ILACHE Conference in 2018.
